Remote Legal Clinics
Forcibly displaced persons are five times more likely to be granted asylum if they have legal representation
In addition to our digital literacy and virtual ESL flagship programs, we are working to expand facilitated workshops with asylum seekers in Tijuana and pro-bono legal representatives in the United States.
We've mentioned in previous blogs some of the immense challenges asylum seekers face in getting their basic needs met. Obtaining legal support is one of those challenges. That's why we recently partnered with Formally, a digital startup that streamlines and simplifies the legal process for asylum seekers and their representatives.
The shelters we partner with in Tijuana can now use our computer labs to bring asylum seekers and pro-bono lawyers together, virtually. We are actively seeking partnerships with legal organizations interested in representing asylum seekers and conducting informational workshops on the asylum process.
